this is better than your traditional black powder as it contains no sulfur ,sulfur when burned converts to sulfuric acid ruining any metal it touches. This kit is super easy to make you simply mix two chemicals together the red cedar charcoal, and the oxidizer provided , in the kit is instructions and references amounts to be mixed. Both chemicals are in amounts needed as none will be left over  If you were to mix a whole batch to make 5 pounds .I do not suggest doing that make small amounts 100-200 gram batches and work with that .

to granulate the powder you will need dextrin that is not included in the kit. Dextrin is simply cornstarch that is baked in the oven at 350° to 400° for an hour until golden brown it converts to starches and forms a water soluble binder. We use 10% dextrin to our mixed composition if we have 100 g mixed batch we use 10 g of dextrin thoroughly mix it in ,when you go to granulate you will spray and mist  the composition with a spray bottle slowly misting and forming into one big thick dough ball as shown in the one picture , too much water is no good. You will not be able to form it into a dough ball two little bit of water. It will stay dry and crumbly. That’s why we suggest spritzing it with the Mister , then you will grate that over a screen creating particle sizes ,spread them out evenly on the surface to dry properly to a rock hard granulated black powder substitute grain
